    Routes

We have a number of routes which we will alternate between over the season. Each week’s route and half time point will be announced on the Tuesday afternoon. All our route maps are available to preview or print in the routes section, however these are subject to slight changes to cater for events and roadworks.

Distance: Between 9 and 12 miles depending on the route
    Numbers: Between 200-500 skaters
Difficulty: Intermediate. Please ensure that you can stop and turn

If this is your first LondonSkate please pay attention to the Marshals announcements at the assemble time, and as always KEEP TO THE LEFT during skates to allow Marshals to skate past, unless asked otherwise. If you cannot keep up then try again the following week, or alternatively give the Sunday Stroll a go.

    Skate Status

ON OFF Call: The Traffic Light System

Traditionally the LondonSkate does not make an On or Off call until the last minute but because we take our punters safety very seriously and because rolling out the Sound System in the wet is risky we have come up with the traffic light system. This is to help you make that call to skate yourselves when the skies are looking unhappy.

    Traffic Light Guide:

Green light Skate and Sound are a GO: we are rolling
Amber light Skate is PENDING: Sound System maybe off
Red light Skate and Sound are OFF: it’s a washout, see you next week

Amber does not mean that the skate is off, just that the Sound System might be. If you turn up you will probably get a skate, if not the worst that can happen is a few drinks in the pub instead or a bus ride bail-out.

WAIT means we have not decided about this week’s skate just yet, check back a little later, or use Twitter to get a TXT to your phone as soon we decide.

Just SMS “Follow LondonSkate” to 86444 (Vodafone, Orange, 3 & O2 users).
